Hooker accepted Chandler fight for ‘chance at winning the McGregor roulette’
“He’s not lying when he’s saying get the red panties out because it’s going to change your life! As a fighter, you’ll do anything for that fight.”
Dan Hooker is hoping a win over Michael Chandler at UFC 257 will earn him a ‘red panty night’ against none other than Mr. Red Panty himself, Conor McGregor.
Hooker, who is expected to face Chandler in the UFC 257 co-main event, admitted a big part of the reason he accepted the matchup is for ‘a chance at winning the McGregor roulette’.
“I’d be lying if I’m saying that’s not a big reason why I jumped at the opportunity to not only fight Michael Chandler, but to be on this card and to have that possibility… that’s the McGregor roulette, baby,” Hooker told SCMP in a recent interview (h/t Abhinav Kini of The Body Lock). “You’re going to have a chance at winning the McGregor roulette. He’s not lying when he’s saying get the red panties out because it’s going to change your life! As a fighter, you’ll do anything for that fight.”
Asked about the fight itself, ‘The Hangman’ believes he is a bad matchup for Chandler and has promised to make the former three-time Bellator lightweight champion wish he had never left Bellator in the first place.
“They invested a whole lot of money to get this guy out of his contract and get him over to the UFC, and they are going to throw him in with me who is a bad stylistic matchup,” Hooker said. “And I’m gonna break the toy in five minutes. I can’t say I feel sorry for them.”
UFC 257: Poirier vs. McGregor 2 is expected to take place on Jan 23. at UFC Fight Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
