Referees, judges selected for Israel Adesanya vs. Yoel Romero, Zhang Weili vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 248

The referees and judges working the two title fights headlining UFC 248 on March 7 in Las Vegas have been selected.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission held a meeting on Wednesday where the officials were chosen and confirmed.

Veteran referee Dan Miragliotta will be the third man in the cage when middleweight champion Israel Adesanya squares off with Yoel Romero in the main event. This will be the first time Miragliotta oversees a fight for Adesanya, but the second time he’s worked a Romero fight.

The first time came at UFC 225 when Romero lost a razor-close split decision to Robert Whittaker in a five-round bout that was changed from a championship contest to a non-title affair when Romero failed to make weight.

The judges scoring the fight cage side will be Sal D’Amato, Chris Lee, and Ron McCarthy.

Both D’Amato and Lee scored that same fight between Romero and Whittaker back in 2018. D’Amato was the one dissenting official who scored the fight for Romero while Lee scored the fight for Whittaker.

In the co-main event, Keith Peterson will serve as the referee for the strawweight title fight between champion Zhang Weili and former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

Mike Bell, Derek Cleary, and Eric Colon will be the judges for the fight.

The referees will be paid $1,900 and the judges $1,600 for their services.

The remainder of the refereeing and judging assignments for the rest of the UFC 248 event will be determined during fight week in Las Vegas.
