UFC 268 live blog: Justin Gaethje vs. Michael Chandler

This is the UFC 268 live blog for Justin Gaethje vs. Michael Chandler, a lightweight main card fight for Saturday’s fight card at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The pay-per-view opener originally was scheduled to serve below the title fights atop the card, but with famed MMA coach Trevor Wittman in the corners of Kamaru Usman and Rose Namajunas, the bout was rescheduled. Gaethje, the No. 3 ranked lightweight in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings and the No. 15 pound-for-pound fighter, takes on No. 6 ranked lightweight Chandler. Both fighters are coming off unsuccessful bids for the undisputed lightweight title, with Gaethje suffering a submission loss to the now-retired Khabib Nurmagomedov and Chandler getting knocked out by current lightweight champ Charles Oliveira.

Both Chandler and Gaethje have said the winner of their bout will get the next shot at the title.
