Video: Conor McGregor throws disastrous first pitch at Chicago Cubs game
Conor McGregor probably picked the right sport.
The former UFC two-division champion joined the ranks of MMA fighters to throw out a ceremonial first pitch at an Major League Baseball game on Tuesday, taking the mound before the Chicago Cubs hosted the Minnesota Twins at Chicago’s Wrigley Field. And though McGregor may have been the best dressed man on the field, his prospects as a big-league pitcher don’t look very promising after a toss that sailed far from its intended target.

McGregor isn’t the first MMA fighter to struggle on the mound. Earlier this year, UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis had a first pitch at a Houston Astros game that drew comparisons to rapper 50 Cent’s disastrous outing back in 2014.
And at least one of McGregor’s fellow lightweights, UFC contender Justin Gaethje, couldn’t help but delight in what he saw from the Irishman on Tuesday night.
“I cannot stop laughing at this,” Gaethje wrote on Twitter. “Every MMA fighter that has represented us doing this has looked terrible but this take the cake.”

McGregor remains on the mend after suffering a broken tibia in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. He is expected to make his return to the cage sometime in 2022.
