Matt Brown to fight Bryan Barberena at Dec. 4 UFC event
The UFC’s first event of December has added a clash of welterweight finishers to the lineup.
MMA Fighting has confirmed with sources with knowledge of the matchup that Matt Brown (23-18) will fight Bryan Barberena (15-8) on Dec. 4 at a location still to be determined. The bout was first reported by MMA DNA.
Barberena also announced the bout on his social media.
Between the two of them. Brown and Barberena have scored 33 of their combined 38 wins by finish, with Brown owning 15 wins by knockout and Barberena 10.
Brown won his most recent fight by KO, finishing Dhiego Lima in the second round this past June. That win snapped a two-fight skid for “The Immortal,” who will compete in his 29th UFC bout when he steps into the octagon to face Barberena.
“Bam Bam” has lost three of his past four, most recently dropping a majority decision to Jason Witt in July. That appearance was Barberena’s first fight since undergoing an emergency laparotomy in November of last year to deal with ruptured arteries.
