UFC 265 promo released ahead of Derrick Lewis vs. Ciryl Gane interim heavyweight title fight
The UFC has released a promotional video ahead of their next pay-per-view event this Saturday night.
UFC 265 will take place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas and will feature an interim heavyweight championship bout in the main event as Derrick Lewis will fight in front of his hometown crowd against the surging Ciryl Gane.
UFC president Dana White has stated on multiple occasions that the winner of the matchup will go on to challenge Francis Ngannou for the undisputed title at a later date.
After dropping consecutive fights, Lewis, No. 3 in MMA Fighting’s global rankings, has bounced back with four consecutive victories, earning his spot in Saturday’s headliner following back-to-back second-round stoppage wins over Aleksei Oleinik and Curtis Blaydes. “The Black Beast” fought for heavyweight gold once before and was submitted by Daniel Cormier at UFC 230 in November 2018.
Gane has had his hand raised in all nine of his professional bouts, which includes a 6-0 start to his octagon tenure. The 31-year-old—tied for fourth in MMA Fighting’s global rankings—was inserted in the championship conversation after two straight main event wins over Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Alexander Volkov.
