UFC on ESPN 13 took place July 15 at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. UFC featherweight standouts Calvin Kattar and Dan Ige battled in a featherweight contest, which aired live on ESPN+. Catch more video highlights below.

Round 1: Ige mobile early as both measure distance. Ige comes in firing first with a combination, and then goes to the body. Kattar waiting for his opportunity to counter, and he draws another combo. So far, Kattar’s pressure is making Ige react, but he has yet to let his hands go. Finally, he begins to press a jab as he moves forward, and Ige goes to the body again. First inside combo from Kattar appears to land. Another nice combo, and Ige shoots from the open. He misses, and Kattar makes him pay with a couple of shots overhead. Now the game of getting around Ige’s legs, and Ige eventually vaults up and resets. Front kick to the face from Kattar. Ige’s right eye is marked up. Nice counter right from Ige, and Kattar comes back to rengage. Kattar catches a body kick and deposits Ige on the mat with a trip. He pounds overhead and rips the body as Ige gets up. Trade of kicks, and Kattar again pressure in. Ige makes him eat a straight right with short time, and Kattar leaps in with a knee and lands several hard shots to the body to end the round.

Round 2: Feints from both at distance in center cage. Both slightly tentative to start the frame. Ige leads with a body shot, and Kattar comes back for a counter. Ige withdraws, but Kattar sticks his own body shot. Jab and front kicks from Kattar to measure distance, and he counters well as Ige gets in close. Ige hooks to the body and head for a good connection, and Kattar’s nose is bloodied. Ige is getting more aggressive, charging forward with hooks to the body and head. Kattar is chasing him, but not finding his range as well this round. Still moving forward, Kattar jabs his way in as his face increasingly shows the damage Ige’s punches have done. Big combo from Kattar sets up a leaping knee, and both wear big shots as Ige careens across the octagon. Ige ends the round going low to the legs as time runs out.

Round 3: Ige more aggressive to start the middle frame, pushing back Kattar with jabs to the body and kicks. Kattar defuses one approach with a low kick and goes back to work with his jab. He’s now drawing leg kicks from Ige, who eats a straight shot when he presses back. Ige draws Kattar into a counter and lands a couple of nice combos. Kattar back to his jab, and he again finds his target. Bid hooks to the body. Both sit down on and land right hands, and Ige momentarily dives for the legs. Kattar on the chase, and Ige points at the canvas. Kattar pressuring again, using his jab and drawing leg kicks. Ige draws a few more charges, but each time, he works the body or answers Kattar with his own shots. Again, they sit down on rights and Ige covers his eye. He comes back after Kattar, who’s right eye has started to bleed.

Round 4: Championship time, and Ige is pressuring forward. He shoots for a takedown, and Kattar immediately stuffs it and resets. He tries to corner Ige and plants a couple of big straight punches. Ige again grabs for the leg, and Kattar bowls him over against the fence, pistoning away with punches and elbows. Big shift in momentum. Kattar lets Ige up, but this time, there’s a little less sting on his counters. Kattar’s pressure may be paying dividends. At the midway point, both have slowed down a little bit. Ige explodes with a superman punch and hook, but they’re both off. Nice jab thwarts elbow from Ige. Trade of jabs, and Ige wings another bolo. He’s throwing everything into his punches, while Kattar is picking away before throwing power shots near the edge of the cage. Trade of leg kicks, and Ige again wings another one. Nice body shot from Ige, but leg kick sweeps him for a second. Kattar is putting together his combos better and finding his range. Leg kick counters Ige’s leg kick, and his takedown is way off. Spinning back kick for Kattar puts punctuation on round.

Round 5: Trade of leg kicks starts the frame, and Ige tries to punch into the clinch. Kattar frames him off and wants to trade toe-to-toe. A nice straight right for Kattar. He then times another shot of the same type, and Ige misses on a wheel kick. Disciplined attack continues for Kattar, and Ige’s shots are increasingly telegraphed. He’s loading up on big shots that Kattar is seeing and blocking. Three minutes left, and Kattar’s kickboxing fundamentals are taking over here. Ige eating jabs as he comes forward. They trade in close, and both land big punches. Ige grabs a leg, and Kattar leaps in the air to regain his footing, avoiding the takedown. Incredible athleticism. The right side of Ige’s face is swelling badly. He hits and body and goes on the attack, and Kattar gets out of the way. Nice hook to body again for Ige, and Kattar comes back with a low kick. Ige again grabs for the leg, and Kattar nearly hits the deck. He locks up a clinch and lands a huge knee that rocks Ige badly. Ige hits the deck, and Kattar closes the fight with a flurry that looks like it might have netted a TKO had the action gone longer.

MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 for Kattar, who takes the 48-47 decision.

OFFICIAL RESULT: Calvin Kattar def. Dan Ige via unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 48-47)
