UFC on ESPN 9 video: Roosevelt Roberts sinks in rear-naked choke to put away Brok Weaver
Roosevelt Roberts had a problem with Brok Weaver so he settled his grudge inside the octagon.
After Weaver failed to make weight on Friday, which led to a contentious face off, Roberts was fired up and it showed with his performance as the Contender Series veteran displayed a dominant striking game before finishing the fight with a rear-naked choke in the second round.
The trash talk that started on Friday actually carried over to Saturday as Roberts was still chatting with Weaver as the fighters began throwing punches. With a long reach at his disposal, Roberts was the more effective striker including a straight right hand that was consistently snapping Weaver’s head back.
In an attempt to close the distance, Weaver kept rushing forward to work from the clinch but he couldn’t control Roberts, who consistently battled free and then made him pay with a flurry of consecutive strikes.
Roberts then altered his own strategy by looking for a takedown of his own and Weaver never got off the ground again. Once the fight hit the mat. Roberts cracked Weaver with a flurry of punches and then made a quick transition to latch onto the rear naked choke from the back.
Weaver tried to scramble out of the submission but once Roberts locked his forearm under the chin, there was no escape. Weaver was forced to tap out with the stoppage coming at 3:26 into the second round.
IT'S DONE.

With a 4-1 record in the UFC now, Roberts didn’t take long to celebrate his win before turning his attention to the next opponent on his radar.
“It ain’t nothing personal against the man, well it kind of is personal but Matt Frevola, I’m on your ass,” Roberts said. “Matt Frevola, you’re my next target.”
