Henry Cejudo rips Conor McGregor boxing training clip, ‘You should be working your takedown defense’

In his own way, Henry Cejudo is looking out for the best interests of his friend Justin Gaethje and their target, Conor McGregor.

Cejudo, whom you may have heard won a thing or two in his wrestling days, jumped at the chance to take a shot at McGregor after footage of “The Notorious” showing off his boxing skills made the rounds on social media over the weekend.

While McGregor’s hands looked as sharp as ever, it was what Cejudo didn’t see that caused him to chime in with a dig at the former two-division UFC champion.

“And that’s actually what the problem is!” Cejudo wrote, addressing the clip’s emphasis on striking. “[McGregor], you should be working your takedown defense ‘McTapper.’ [Justin Gaethje] would destroy in round one!”

During his massively successful MMA career, McGregor has proven susceptible to submissions, with all four of his career losses coming by way of tapout. Cejudo is suggesting that Gaethje, a former Division-I All-American wrestler who’s become known more for his knockout power than his takedowns, could be the next man to give McGregor headaches on the ground.

Neither McGregor nor Gaethje have anything official lined up. But there’s already plenty of fuel added to the fire should the matchup come to fruition.
