See how Molly McCann and Tom Aspinall reacted to winning performance bonuses after UFC Vegas 36 on Saturday night.

Molly McCann and Tom Aspinall were overcome with emotion after UFC Vegas 36 on Saturday night. The Liverpudlians were two of four performance bonus recipients and shed some tears upon being told the good news.

McCann earned a unanimous decision win over Ji Yeon Kim on the preliminary portion of the event. ‘Meatball’ fought through some adversity in the opening round after being dropped to the canvas by an accidental clash of heads. She went on to overwhelm Kim in a war that resulted in them being awarded the ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus. McCann shared her response to the extra $50,000 on social media, which can be seen below.

After her fight with Kim, McCann returned to the win column and completed her current contract with the UFC but told assembled media that she wanted a new one following this successful appearance.

“I want to give the fans something,” said McCann (video by MMA Junkie). “You know I fight for the fans. I could just hear my coach and I knew who wanted it more in that last round. I want a new contract. That was the last fight on my contract and I just had to show my worth.

“After the headbutt that dropped me in the first round, honest to God my hands feel broke, but I thought, what am I made of? I’m made of that pure Scouse nastiness and I put my hands down, walked forward, let’s just go. I wanted it more. I landed better shots, and I am on top of the world.”

Aspinall fought shortly after McCann and stopped Serghei Spivac with an elbow and follow-up punches in the co-main event. It was his seventh consecutive win by way of stoppage, so it came as no surprise to see his name included on the list of performance bonuses. The Team Kaobon fighter was still doing a post-fight photoshoot when he was told that he won his third since joining the promotion over a year ago.

Aspinall was in disbelief for a moment but was reassured that he did indeed win another bonus, which led to him crying and sharing a moment with his father. He expressed his appreciation for the award in his post-fight interview.

“I just cried and I think it’s on camera,” said Aspinall (video by MMA Junkie). “So, get the views up on that, make sure you share it. Honestly, for anyone who doesn’t know, I’ve got a missus, I’ve got three small kids and I’m just trying to buy a house, man.

“I’m just a normal guy. I’m just trying to get by in this world and look after my children and look after my family and I need that money just as much as anybody else. It’s like a dream. I appreciate it so much.”
