Paddy Pimblett delivered on his promise to shake things up in his octagon debut.

The 26-year-old lightweight survived an early scare before storming back and earning a highlight-reel knockout over Luigi Vendramini in the opening fight on the main card at UFC Vegas 36. The end came at 4:25 of the first round after Pimblett crushed Vendramini with a vicious right hook that sent the Brazilian down to the canvas.

“What did I tell you?” Pimblett said when speaking to Michael Bisping after the fight. “I’m a scouser. We don’t get knocked out. I’m here to takeover. I’m the new cash cow. I’m the new man. People are going to be calling me out now.”

Prior to his knockout win, Pimblett was faced with adversity as Vendramini sought to send him home to England with a loss.

Pimblett was quick out of the gate but was walking forward with his chin up high and Ventramini took advantage with a huge left hook early that blasted the former Cage Warriors fighter. While Pimblett stayed on his feet, Vendramini definitely had him rattled and the Brazilian continued to target the Liverpudlian with the same punch in several exchanges.

As the left hook kept finding a home on Pimblett’s chin, Vendramini started to get a little wild with his strikes — and that ultimately came back to cost him.

With both fighters throwing heavy leather, Pimblett uncorked a beautiful right hand that wobbled Vendramini. That was the beginning of the end of the fight. Once he realized his opponent was hurt, Pimblett swarmed on him with a series of punches including the final right hand that put Vendramini down on the canvas as the fight came to an end.

Pimblett has welcomed all the attention on him ever since signing with the UFC and he certainly lived up to expectations with his first win. Now he’ll look to build on that while calling himself a future superstar on the UFC’s roster.
