Darren Till seized his moment.

Till was an unheralded 24-year-old when the UFC tapped him to headline his first event on a small show in Poland against Donald Cerrone at UFC Fight Night 118. It was a risk. At the time, Till was just 3-0-1 in his UFC run and owned only one finish among his three wins.

Cerrone, on the other hand, was a longtime fan favorite and one-time title challenger badly in need of a win. After moving up from lightweight to welterweight, “Cowboy” rattled off four consecutive stoppage wins before losing back-to-back fights to Jorge Masvidal and Robbie Lawler. A third consecutive loss would’ve marked the first three-fight losing streak of his career, and Cerrone walked into fight night as the odds-on favorite to end his slump.

But Till had other ideas.

The scouser needed less than a round to announce his presence in the UFC with a thunderous knockout of Cerrone.
