Round 1
No walkout music for Darren Till. Eerie silence in the UFC Apex right now. Here comes Derek Brunson. High stakes for these two middleweights. Herb Dean is your referee. They touch gloves and we’re off. Till takes the center of the octagon. Quick one-twos early from the scouser. Till sticks Brunson with a straight left. Brunson has seen enough — he changes levels and dumps Till onto his back with a double-leg takedown. Brunson settles into half guard and goes to work. Big punches from Brunson! He’s pouring it on. Nasty ground and pound. Brunson stands to readjust and Till uses the moment to pop back to his feet. Good, competitive opening round.

Round 2
Till tells his corner that he thinks Brunson is tired. His corner responds that Brunson is scared. His right eye is a total mess already. Brunson immediately lunges for another level change but Till fights it off. Brunson is relentless though, and pushes Till up against the fence. Another double-leg attempt fails by Brunson. Till pops Brunson with a few jabs, but Brunson eats them then bulldozes inside and dumps Till onto his back with a double-leg takedown. Two-and-a-half minutes to work here for the American, who settles into half guard. Hard elbow by Brunson. Till is mostly keeping the action locked up but Brunson remains in control. Till works to his feet in the closing seconds of the round.

Round 3
Brunson’s corner calls for more takedowns. It’s working, so why not? Till finds a home for a stiff straight left. Brunson ducks under a punch and forces the action to the fence, but Till reverses the position and releases. Till works in a few low kicks. Teep kick to the body by Till, followed by a one-two! Another combination and Brunson is hurt! Till keeps on the pressure but Brunson gets him down with a double-leg! Huge reversal here from Brunson! He’s mounted Till. Till gives up his back and Brunson slithers in a choke! That’s it! Rear-naked choke victory for Derek Brunson. What a wild turn of events.
