Report: Rogerio Bontorin meets Kai Kara-France at UFC 259
Flyweights Rogerio Bontorin and Kai Kara-France are reportedly booked for UFC 259 on March 6.
Flyweight contender Rogerio Bontorin is all healed up from surgery.
After suffering a left ankle injury that required an operation and kept him away from the cage for six months, the Brazilian now has a date and a card to come back. Per Combate’s report, the 28-year-old is booked to take on Kai Kara-France at UFC 259.
Once scheduled to take on prospect Manel Kape back in August 2020, Rogerio Bontorin (16-2-1 NC) suffered an ankle injury during training. In his last outing, back in February of the same year, the Brazilian suffered his first ever Octagon loss when he dropped a unanimous decision to Ray Borg. Before that, the 28-year-old was on a two-fight winning streak in the UFC, with victories over Magomed Bibulatov and Raulian Paiva.
On the other side of the cage, Kai Kara-France (21-9-1 NC) will also try to bounce back from a loss and avoid dropping two in a row. In his last outing, the ‘Prodigy’ ended up tapped out via guillotine choke by Brandon Royval, back in September 2020. Prior to the loss, the 27-year-old picked up a unanimous decision win over veteran Tyson Nam, in February of the same year.
Now, Rogerio Bontorin is reportedly expected to take on Kai Kara-France at UFC 259, on March 6, in a location yet to be determined. The main event is a light heavyweight title bout between champion Jan Blachowicz and middleweight champ Israel Adesanya.
