ONE Championship announces Shinya Aoki’s return, ‘Reug Reug’ vs. Alain Ngalani for January
ONE Championship kicks off its 2021 calendar on Jan. 22, featuring the return of former champion Shinya Aoki. Two other events will be taped that same day at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, but only air the following Fridays.
On the first card, dubbed ONE: Unbreakable, Aoki headlines the MMA portion in a lightweight showdown against James Nakashima, who once challenged for the company’s welterweight belt. Aoki won six of seven since 2018, including five finishes.
The event also features Zebaztian Kadestam vs. Gadzhimurad Abdulaev, Meng Bo vs. Samara Santos and Hexigetu vs. Lito Adiwang under MMA rules.
ONE: Unbreakable 2, which only airs Jan. 29, will be headlined by heavyweights Mauro Cerilli and Abdulbasir Vagabov. Senegalese sensation Oumar Kane, also known as “Reug Reug,” makes his promotional debut versus Alain Ngalani, who was originally expected to welcome Vitor Belfort to the circular cage.
ONE: Unbreakable 3 will mark the return of muay thai specialist Stamp Fairtex to the MMA world, taking on Alyona Rassohyna. The event, which airs on Feb. 5, will be co-headlined by Shoko Sato vs. Fabricio Andrade.
