Report: Weidman vs. Hermansson headlines UFC OKC

MMA: UFC Fight Night-Weidman vs Gastelum Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Chris Weidman’s middleweight return is set for UFC Oklahoma City on May 2nd, against Jack Hermansson.

Chris Weidman is returning to the division in which he was once champion. The long time Serra-Longo protege is set to take on Jack Hermansson in a middleweight bout at UFC Oklahoma City on May 2nd.

ESPN first reported the news, though the UFC is yet to confirm the match-up. This event marks the third time the UFC has visited Oklahoma City, last hosting a Fight Night card there in 2017.

Hermansson (20-5) had a four-fight winning streak snapped by Jared Cannonier last September, losing the fight by first round TKO. ‘The Joker’ became a breakout star at 185-pounds in 2019, submitting David Branch and winning a decision against Jacare Souza.

Weidman (14-5) will hope to snap a two-fight winning streak when he faces Hermansson. ‘The All American’ had a disappointing light heavyweight debut last October, losing by first round stoppage to Dominick Reyes. The 35-year-old has picked up just one win in his last six UFC fights.

UFC Oklahoma City takes place at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Hermansson vs. Weidman will headline the card.
