Maki Pitolo vs. Takashi Soto scrapped from UFC Auckland

A welterweight fight between Maki Pitolo and Takashi Soto has been scrapped from the UFC Fight Night card in Auckland, New Zealand.

Sources close to the contest confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Friday during the official weigh-ins that were taking place ahead of Saturday’s event. The news was first reported by ESPN.

According to sources, Pitolo fell ill before the weigh-ins and the fight was pulled from the card.

Pitolo, a former Dana White Contender Series veteran, was seeking his first UFC win after falling short in his debut against Callan Potter last October.

As for Soto, he’s currently 1-1 inside the Octagon with a win over Ben Saunders and a loss against Belal Muhammad in his last fight at UFC 242 this past September.

With Pitolo vs. Soto cancelled, UFC Fight Night from Auckland will move forward with 12 total fights on the card.
