UFC fighter rankings: Zingano out, Rodriguez cracks top 10
There have been some changes in the rankings of the women’s divisions.
The UFC took their Octagon to Uruguay for the first time over the weekend, and the action was...well, not exactly aplenty. The card was also sorely lacking in relevancy, which meant that there wasn’t a lot to write about here today.
With that being said, Marina Rodriguez announced herself to the rest of the women’s strawweight division with a win over Tecia Torres, and the removal of Cat Zingano from the rankings (and the UFC) led to some shifting at women’s 135.
Here’s a look at the changes this week.
P4P - Valentina Shevchenko is up one to 12 with her successful title defense. Conor McGregor falls to 13.
Heavyweight - No changes.
Light Heavyweight - Ilir Latifi dropped three spots to 12 after being dominated and finished by Volkan Oezdemir. Corey Anderson moved up into a tie for seven with Oezdemir. Glover Teixeira, Aleksandar Rakic, and Johnny Walker all moved up one spot each to 9-11 respectively.
Middleweight - No changes.
Welterweight - Anthony Pettis moved into a tie for seven with Stephen Thompson ahead of his fight this weekend. Vicente Luque re-entered the rankings at 14. Neil Magny dropped one to 15.
Lightweight - No changes.
Featherweight - No changes.
Bantamweight - No changes.
Flyweight - Rogerio Bontorin is up one spot to seven after his win. Brandon Moreno drops one to eight. Kai Kara France is up one to ten. Ryan Benoit falls one to 11, tied with Jordan Espinosa. Mark De La Rosa and Raulian Pavia flip-flopped the 14 and 15 spots.
Women’s Bantamweight - Zingano being out just means that everyone from 8 and down moved up one spot. Bethe Correia re-enters the rankings at 15.
Women’s Flyweight - No changes.
Women’s Strawweight - Carla Esparza and Alexa Grasso are up one spot each to eight and nine. As mentioned, Rodriguez enters at ten after taking out Torres. Torres fell five big spots to 13. Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Cortney Casey fell one each to 14 and 15.
