Darren Till keen on clash with ‘childhood hero’ Robbie Lawler, eyes 2019 return
Darren Till hasn’t made up his mind with regard to what weight class he will ply his trade at in the future, but he likes the sound of Michael Bisping’s calls for a clash between him and former welterweight champio, Robbie Lawler.
On a recent episode of the Believe You Me podcast, the U.K. MMA legend and former middleweight champion insisted that Till was the “perfect answer” when posed with who Lawler’s next opponent should be.
Speaking on this week’s episode of MMA Fighting’s Eurobash podcast, Till underlined his interest in the proposed bout.
“That’s a great fight, mate,” said Till. “I called Robbie out not so long ago and he’s a childhood hero; I grew up watching him. That would be spectacular, mate. It really would.”
Till—who suffered his first career defeats to Tyron Woodley and Jorge Masvidal in his last two outings—insisted he will be back in action before the end of the year.
“One hundred million percent, [I’ll fight] before Christmas. I’m ready to go right now one hundred percent [I’ll be back] before Christmas,” he said.
Check out the latest episode of Eurobash. The Darren Till interview begins at 12:00.
