Megan Anderson to fight Felicia Spencer at UFC Rochester
Megan Anderson will look to make it two in a row when she next competes in New York.
Officials announced Tuesday via a press release that Anderson will meet the debuting Felicia Spencer (6-0) at UFC Rochester on May 18. The bout was first reported by news.com.au.
Anderson, a former Invicta FC featherweight champion, is coming off of her first UFC victory, though one that came as the result of an unfortunate eye injury to her opponent Cat Zingano. Barely a minute into their fight at UFC 232 last December, a high kick from Anderson grazed Zingano’s eye, leaving Zingano clutching at her face and forcing the referee to wave off the bout. That improved Anderson’s record to 1-1 in the UFC and 9-3 overall.
The current Invicta champion at 145 pounds, Spencer will be leaving that title behind to join the UFC roster. All of her pro bouts have taken place under the Invicta banner and all of have ended with her seeing her hand raised. The 28-year-old Canadian became champion with a fourth-round submission of Pam Sorenson in her most recent outing last November.
UFC Rochester will be headlined by a welterweight bout between Rafael dos Anjos and Kevin Lee, and takes place at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y. The main card will air live on the ESPN+ streaming service.
