Henry Cejudo vs. Marlon Moraes set for vacant bantamweight title fight at UFC 238

Henry Cejudo faces Marlon Moraes at UFC 238.

Henry Cejudo will indeed seek to become a two-division champion this summer.

Cejudo, the UFC’s current flyweight champion, and top-ranked bantamweight contender Marlon Moraes are officially scheduled to collide on June 8 at UFC 238 with the vacant 135-pound title on the line. The UFC announced the booking Wednesday.

Cejudo and Moraes will vie for the UFC bantamweight belt that was vacated by T.J. Dillashaw following his recent failed USADA drug test.

Cejudo (14-2) needed just 32 seconds to knock out Dillashaw this past January in Dillashaw’s failed bid for the flyweight title at UFC Brooklyn. The stunning victory punctuated a four-fight win streak for Cejudo, which also saw the Olympic gold medalist dethrone legendary flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson via split decision in August 2018.

Moraes (22-5-1), meanwhile, is the No. 1-ranked contender in the UFC’s bantamweight division. The former WSOF champion has won four consecutive fights against well-regarded foes John Dodson, Aljamain Sterling, Jimmie Rivera, and Raphael Assuncao. The last three of those names, Moraes finished inside the first round.

UFC 238 takes place at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The event also features a women’s flyweight title bout between UFC champion Valentina Shevchenko and veteran challenger Jessica Eye.
