Deron Williams will be the latest former NBA player to try his hand in the world of boxing.

Sources close to the situation confirmed to MMA Fighting on Friday that Williams will compete on the undercard of the Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury Showtime Boxing event on Dec. 18, which takes place at Amelie Arena in Tampa, Fla. The Athletic was first to report Williams’ involvement on the card.

As of now, no opponent has been officially named for Williams, but it’s reported that former NFL running back Frank Gore could be an option.

Williams competed in the NBA from 2005-2017 and played for the Utah Jazz, New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets, Dallas Mavericks and ended his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was a three-time all-star and also a member of the 2008 and 2012 U.S. Olympic basketball teams, on which he picked up two gold medals.

The 37-year-old Williams is co-owner of the Fortis MMA gym in Dallas, Texas and is an avid mixed martial arts fan. He appeared on a May 2017 edition of The MMA Hour to discuss his love of MMA and a potential future competing in combat sports.
