‘The Immortal’ Matt Brown is set for another Octagon appearance.

Earlier this year Matt Brown scored a KO win over Dhiego Lima to pad his record for most fights and finishes in the UFC’s welterweight division. The KO—his 12th in the Octagon—also tied him for most knockouts in UFC history (alongside Derrick Lewis and Vitor Belfort).

There were murmurings that the 40-year-old might have called it a career after that sensational stoppage. However, ‘The Immortal’ made it clear that he wanted to fight. And it appears he’ll do just that on December 4.

According to Marcel Dorff at MMA DNA Brown has been booked to face Bryan Barberena on that date. The December 4 event is currently unnamed and without a main event. However, it is expected to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.

Also scheduled for the card is Rafael Fiziev vs. Brad Riddell, Jimmy Crute vs. Jamahal Hill and Mallory Martin vs. Montserrat Ruiz.

Brown joined the UFC in 2008 via the seventh season of The Ultimate Fighter. After losing to Amir Sadollah in the series’ tournament he got a win over Matt Arroyo on the show’s finale.

He’s gone 16-12 in the promotion, with his most successful period coming between 2012 and 2014. During that span he had a seven fight win streak that included a decision over Stephen Thompson and stoppages of Mike Swick, Jordan Mein, Mike Pyle and Erick Silva.

Those wins lead to a UFC welterweight title eliminator with Robbie Lawler, which he lost by decision.

Before beating Lima in June, Brown was on a two-fight losing skids with a decision defeat to Carlos Condit and TKO loss to Miguel Baeza.

Barberena lost to Jason Witt last time out, at UFC Vegas 33 in July. His six UFC wins include victories over Sage Northcutt, Warlley Alves and Jake Ellenberger.
