Mariusz Pudzianowski vs ‘Bombardier’ rescheduled for KSW 64

You want your five star matches? You want your 15 minute classics? Not me. Big meaty men slapping meat.

Earlier this year we almost saw one of the weirdest possible fights take place when The World’s Strongest Man was set to fight the Senegalese Lutte Menace. It was the volatile heavyweight fight to look forward to.

Until it wasn’t.

One of the most decorated Senegalese wrestlers alive, Serigne Ousmane Dia (a.k.a. Bombardier) made his transition to MMA and was looking for a big step up. After being signed by KSW earlier this year in February, that step came in the form of Mariusz Pudzianowski. Unfortunately, Bombardier (2-0) had to bow out and the fight was cancelled. Bombardier was hospitalized with appendicitis, but the anticipated bout will take place next month on October 23rd at KSW 64.

Bombardier didn’t get the chance he had hoped for, but now he’s got the opportunity to deliver on the high hopes many have for him. But he’s also up against an aging but still formidable veteran in Pudzianowski.

Pudzianowski (15-7) went through a rough stretch with back to back losses in 2018 and 2019, but is now on a three fight win streak. That includes a brutal finish over fitness model Erko Jun, where he showed he had continued to improve at this point in his career.

As for Bombardier (2-0), he’s doing as expected. A big man fighting other big men, even if both of those opponents had a combined 0-2 record (one loss apiece). His game is simple, big swings, clinch, then take you down and make you as miserable as humanly possible. And he’s great at that.

So far, this is the biggest fight KSW can arrange in terms of sheer size of competitors. It’s a wild one, and a bummer that we didn’t get it the firs time around, but it’s made this somehow even more of an anticipated event.

KSW 64 takes place on October 23rd, live from the Atlas Arena in Łódź, Poland. This bout will be featured as the main event.
