UFC’s Darren Till shares transphobic meme with photo of Brazilian singer Pabllo Vittar
Middleweight contender Darren Till online activity has been reported to police in Liverpool over potential hate speech violations.
One of the UFC’s most active social media presences has gotten into hot water over sharing a distasteful joke over Twitter yesterday. Middleweight contender Darren Till tweeted a transphobic meme using a picture of famous Brazilian pop singer Pabllo Vittar on it, which caused an uproar on the website.

Although hundreds of users replied to Till, asking him to apologize or delete the tweet, it was to no avail. The post went up on July 30 and is still up as of the time of writing this piece. When approached by enraged users, all Darren had to say about the post was “You can’t cancel someone who doesn’t give a sh-t”, which he wrote on his Instagram account.
The Instagram post was liked and commented by UFC president Dana White, who simply wrote “TRUTH” in the comments.
In this most recent post Till tagged the Liverpool ECHO, a news outlet that reported that Till’s previous social media activity, which included sharing homophobic and other transphobic memes had been reported to Merseyside Police as possible hate speech.
Vittar, the subject of Till’s latest post, is not trans. They are a drag queen pop singer with a massive following within the Brazilian LGBTQ+ community. Over the last few years, Vittar has grown to become one of the country’s most well-known performers, with several hit tracks. So far, the artist has not commented on the matter.
In his last outing, Till (18-3-1) dropped a unanimous decision to Robert Whittaker, back in July 2020. Before that, the 28-year-old had picked up a split decision win over Kelvin Gastelum, in November 2019.
Till is expected to take on Derek Brunson at UFC Fight Night 192, on September 18, in a location yet to be determined. So far, the card does not have an official main event linked to it.
