“Own it, man! Be a psychopath!”

Prizefighting, they say, is “the hurt business.” You may be in it for the sport and competition, but you won’t get by, let alone rise to the top without dishing out some form of pain.

UFC middleweight Sean Strickland sees things a little differently. The 30-year-old spoke to the media after his win over Uriah Hall at UFC Vegas 33 on Saturday and shared his approach to fighting.

The statement definitely doesn’t look good on paper, and he could be saying it in jest. But here’s the actual video, so you can be the judge.

If you like to f—ng hurt people, you’re in the right sport, man. Like, I would love nothing more than to kill somebody in the ring. Nothing more. It would make me super happy. I would own that shit, too. I don’t know if that made me liable, I might have to say ‘I’m sorry’ if the cops came. But I would own that shit.

Own it, man! Be a psychopath! It’s f—ng fun!

Strickland also dropped some quotable quotes during his Octagon interview with Paul Felder. He later told reporters he’d “never done a drug” in his life because he may “end up losing his “f—ng mind.”

And for that, he has this life advice to offer.

If you don’t have a lot of issues, go do drugs, have fun, enjoy life. But if you’re a guy who has an addictive personality, you watch too much porn, whatever you do, stay away from drugs, you guys. It’s gonna f—k your life up.

When asked about the porn addiction statement and whether he had first-hand experience with it, Strickland had this response.

Oh yeah, are you kidding me? I’m a man in the UFC. That’s everyone’s problem.

He later offered some more unsolicited advice on men’s sexual health.

The number 11-ranked Strickland is now on a five-fight win streak, as he improves to a record of 24-3.
