Hall releases statement on loss at UFC Vegas 33
The No. 8 ranked middleweight lost to Sean Strickland in the main event of UFC Vegas 33 on Saturday.
Uriah Hall has addressed his loss to Sean Strickland at UFC Vegas 33 on Saturday.
The No. 8 ranked middleweight contender struggled with the constant pressure and volume from a very relentless Strickland, who outstruck Hall throughout the fight. Strickland controlled the action — and even hurt Hall on several occasions — but “Primetime” fought through the adversity and made it to the final horn. He would lose to Strickland by way of unanimous decision.
Hall did not appear in front of the assembled media at the post-fight press conference, but he took to Instagram on Sunday to share some thoughts on the loss and give praise to his opponent.
“Tough one last night,” wrote Hall. “Congratulations to [Sean Strickland]. I was prepared, he was just the better man last night. This one hurts, but I’ll be back. Thank you for all the messages and love. It means more then [sic] you know. Oss.”
Hall entered the fight with Strickland on a four-fight win streak, with three of those coming by way of knockout. His previous appearance in the Octagon was at UFC 261 where he met former UFC middleweight champion, Chris Weidman. That fight ended in 17 seconds after Weidman broke the fibula and tibia of his left leg throwing a low kick that was checked by Hall.
Strickland has now won five consecutive fights. He rebounded from a knockout loss to Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos with wins over the likes of Nordine Taleb, Jack Marshman, Brendan Allen and Krzysztof Jotko in recent appearances.
