Video: Paul Felder announces retirement from fighting
Lightweight Paul Felder put an end to his career during the UFC Vegas 27 broadcast.
In a refreshing way to announce it, UFC lightweight turned commentator Paul Felder made his retirement official during the UFC Vegas 27 broadcast. Sitting next to Michael Bisping and Brendan Fitzgerald, the ‘Irish Dragon’ took the opportunity to call it a career during a break in the show’s main card.
In a heartfelt moment, Felder talked about what led to his decision and emphasized how he does not have the desire to compete at the highest level anymore. During the speech, Paul also apologized to the rest of the division for holding up a spot in the rankings and thanked the UFC for all the doors the company has opened for him over the years.

Paul Felder (17-6) had already briefly retired following his split decision loss to Dan Hooker, in February 2020. However, the Irish Dragon did come back for one more outing in November of the same year, stepping in on short notice to take on Rafael dos Anjos, ending up losing that bout via split decision once again.
Now officially retired, the 37-year-old leaves the Octagon with a 9-6 record. Felder’s run, which started in 2014, includes notable wins over names like the current champion, Charles Oliveira, Edson Barboza, Danny Castilo, and Josh Burkman. among others.
