Video: Derrick Lewis claims to have stopped alleged car thief, shows off bruised knuckles
Derrick Lewis is probably one of the last people whose car anyone should be attempting to steal.
On Tuesday, the UFC heavyweight contender posted a video on Instagram in which he apparently he stopped an alleged car thief, who was later apprehended by Houston police.
“Mofo pick right/wrong car to break into,” Lewis wrote. “HE’S OK.”
In addition to sharing a picture that shows both the suspect and the attending officers, Lewis also showed off the damage done to his car and added some commentary.
“Motherf*cker tried to break into my sh*t,” Lewis said.
He also shared an image to his Instagram story of his fist and a caption that reads, “Satisfaction” and “He’s ok” again.
@thebeastufc, InstagramMMA Fighting reached out to the Houston Police Department and a representative confirmed that the incident occurred at around 9:30 in the morning local time on 15000 Block West Memorial Loop. It is not known if the suspect is in custody.
Lewis, a Louisiana native who resides in Houston, is currently expected to be the first challenger for recently crowned heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. UFC President Dana White has said on multiple occasions that he expects a fight between the two to be made official soon. Lewis has won four straight fights.
Ngannou and Lewis first fought at UFC 226 in July 2018, a listless three-round affair that Lewis won by unanimous decision.
