Jason Knight vs. Charles ‘Felony’ Bennett booked as first main event for Jorge Masvidal’s bare-knuckle MMA promotion
Jorge Masvidal has booked the first main event for his inaugural Gamebred Fighting Championships card, which will feature bare-knuckle MMA fights.
A pair of BKFC veterans will clash when Jason Knight takes on Charles “Felony” Bennett in the main event set on June 18 with the event taking place in Biloxi, Miss.
Masvidal announced plans to launch his own bare-knuckle MMA promotion just before his welterweight title fight at UFC 261 in April. Now the veteran fighter has moved forward with the first card, which will fights contested under MMA rules with the fighters wearing no gloves.
Of course, Knight is no stranger to bare-knuckle fights after he competed in a pair of high profile fights under the BKFC banner where he battled Artem Lobov on two different occasions. While he dropped a decision in the first fight, Knight avenged that defeat by finishing Lobov by TKO in the rematch.
Since that time, Knight returned to MMA where he picked up a win over Cliff Wright by submission back in March and now the ex-UFC fighter will crossover to compete in Masvidal’s new promotion as the main event in June.
As for Bennett, the always entertaining featherweight hasn’t found as much success in his attempts to start a career in bare-knuckle fighting after amassing an 0-3 record in BKFC. Hand injuries stopped his first two fights with the promotion and he dropped a decision to Tyler Goodjohn in his most recent appearance with the promotion this past December.
He’ll look to turn that around when he faces Knight in the first ever Gamebred Fighting Championships main event from the Biloxi Community Center on June 18. The event will air live on BKTVApp.com.
