‘I have no idea what he’s talking about’: Miocic dismisses Lewis’ ‘punch drunk’ comments
“His balls were probably too hot, that’s probably why he said that”.
Derrick Lewis thinks it might be time for Stipe Miocic to think about retirement following his knockout loss to Francis Ngannou at UFC 260 because, according to ‘The Black Beast’, he’s too ‘punch drunk’ to continue fighting.
At 38-years-old and a with couple of KO losses on his resume Miocic certainly has some miles on the clock but the former two-time heavyweight champion is far from done.
Miocic has no idea what Lewis was thinking when he made those comments but suspects the Texan’s balls might have been hot.
“I’m punch drunk?” Miocic told Submission Radio in a recent interview (transcription via Denis Shkuratov). “I have no idea what he’s talking about. But okay.
“His balls were probably too hot, that’s probably why he said that,” he joked.
Miocic will look to bulk up in weight in an effort to reclaim the heavyweight title and, if Dana White’s latest comments are to be taken seriously, the UFC vet could be fighting for the title again by the end of the year.
“Great news,” Miocic said when asked about potentially being next in line to fight the winner of Ngannou vs. Lewis 2. “It’s was what I was expecting, but you never know what could happen. But I’m real happy with that.”
“When I have a contract, then it’ll be real”.
Miocic is currently ranked #8 in the men’s pound-for-pound rankings and is widely considered to be the greatest heavyweight champion in UFC history.
