Bellator 259 video: Hannah Guy hands Valerie Loureda first pro loss
Valerie Loureda faced the stiffest test of her young MMA career and it led to her first pro loss.
In the main card opener of Friday night’s Bellator 259 event, Hannah Guy was able to weather some hard shots from the previously unbeaten Miami fighter and used a superior grappling advantage to earn a unanimous decision win at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
Both women met in the center and exchanged punches seconds into the flyweight matchup. Loureda used her side-to-side movement and drilled Guy with a beautiful left hand that put her to the mat. Guy was able to recover for a moment before Loureda landed a big combination. The fight would get to the mat with Guy working for an armbar and it was very close, but Loureda defended nicely, landing a hammer fist on the way back to the feet. Guy continued to use grappling pressure against the fence not allowing the American Top Team prospect to get any space. Loureda got on top on the floor once again and Guy looked for the armbar again as the first round ended.
