Video: Andy Ruiz Jr sheds nearly 30 lbs for PPV main event vs. Chris Arreola
Andy Ruiz Jr was north of 280 lbs when he lost his rematch to Anthony Joshua, but he’s committed to being in better shape moving forward.
Former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz (33-2, 22 KOs) is considerably lighter than he was for both of his fights with Anthony Joshua two years ago.
Ruiz, who stopped Joshua on short notice in a memorable upset before losing the rematch, weighed in at 256 lbs for Saturday’s FOX PPV main event vs. Chris Arreola. For comparison, Ruiz was a whopping 283 lbs for the second Joshua fight and 268 lbs for the first one. He has made a well-documented commitment to improve his physical condition after that second Joshua fight and you can see the results.

His opponent, Chris Arreola (38-6-1-2 NCs, 33 KOs), came in at a career low 228.5 lbs which is also notable given his own reputation for being on the pudgy side.
This fight figures to be entertaining given their respective work-rates. As a pay-per-view main event? An absolute joke even at the reduced rate of $50.
Ruiz vs. Arreola will air live on FOX PPV at 9 PM ET/6 PM PT on Saturday, May 1st from Carson, California.
