Francis Ngannou answers Tyson Fury challenge, says ‘Jon Jones first,’ then Fury
Now that Francis Ngannou is the heavyweight king of the UFC, he’s calling the shots.
Ngannou has yet to schedule the first defense of his title after vanquishing Stipe Miocic in their rematch at UFC 260 in March, and even with Dana White targeting Derrick Lewis to face Ngannou next and a trilogy bout with Miocic looming sometime in the future, the champion knows what he wants.
First, Jon Jones; and then a boxing match with Tyson Fury.
Ngannou reiterated his plans following a Twitter callout from Fury on Wednesday:

“This is a message to Francis Ngannou and the UFC guys,” Fury said. “Look, you want some of this ‘Gypsy King’ money, you know where to come and find it. You want some of this Gypsy King power, I’ll give it ya. Anytime, anyplace, anywhere, seven days a week and twice on a Sunday.”
Ngannou was quick to respond with a reply that was brief and to the point:

“I’ll take care of [Jones] first then come after [Fury],” Ngannou wrote.
It’s unclear when or if an Ngannou-Jones fight will ever happen despite both UFC stars campaigning for the bout since 2019. Ngannou has also long expressed an interest in boxing Fury and his striking coach Dewey Cooper recently said he thinks Ngannou has a chance to beat Fury.
Negotiations for a potential Jones fight have apparently hit a dead end and with Jones recently ending an 11-year relationship with his management team, it appears Ngannou’s plans to knock off Jones and Fury are on hold for now.
