Court McGee vs. Claudio Silva targeted for May 22 Fight Night event

Longtime UFC welterweight veteran Court McGee will return to action against Claudio Silva on May 22, multiple people with knowledge of the booking told MMA Fighting. Ag. Fight first reported the matchup.

The UFC has yet to officially announce the location for the Fight Night event card. Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt will face Rob Font in the five-round headliner.

McGee (19-10) has his back against the wall after losing three straight since 2019, losing decisions to Carlos Condit, Sean Brady and Dhiego Lima. The 36-year-old veteran, who holds wins over the likes of Robert Whittaker and Josh Neer, has gone 3-7 in his last 10 octagon appearances.

Silva (14-2) recently suffered his first loss in nearly 13 years when he dropped a decision to James Krause in October 2020. “Hannibal” had won all five UFC bouts prior to the defeat, including victories over Leon Edwards and Nordine Taleb.
