Impa Kasanganay vs. Sasha Palatnikov added to UFC’s April 10 lineup
Impa Kasanganay is set to return for the first time since his highlight-reel knockout loss to Joaquin Buckley in October.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that Kasanganay will face Sasha Palatnikov in a middleweight bout at the UFC’s event on April 10, which has not had a location or venue made official. MMA Junkie was first to report the booking.
Kasanganay had a busy summmer in 2020, earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in August with a unanimous decision win over Anthony Adams—his second DWCS victory. He followed that up with a win over Maki Pitolo in his octagon debut 18 days later at UFC Vegas 8. “Tshilobo” would return less than two months later to face Buckley at UFC Fight Island 5 and was on the wrong end of a spinning kick KO that was widely regarded as the Knockout of the Year.
Palatnikov is looking to continue his promotional momentum after earning a third-round TKO win over Louis Cosce at UFC 255 in the event’s Fight of the Night. The 31-year-old became the first fighter from Hong Kong to earn a victory in the UFC.
The UFC’s April 10 event will be headlined by a pivotal 185-pound matchup between Darren Till and Marvin Vettori.
