Conor McGregor takes shots at Ali Abdelaziz, Khamzat Chimaev responds
It doesn’t look like Conor McGregor and his rivals will be turning the page heading into the new year.
On Saturday, McGregor took to Twitter to fire a few social media shots at longtime rival Khabib Nurmagomedov and Nurmagomedov’s manager Ali Abdelaziz. The parties involved have publicly feuded in the past both before and after McGregor’s in-cage heated encounter with Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in October 2018.
This time around the chatter appeared to revolve around McGregor still wanting another crack at Nurmagomedov after “The Eagle” submitted McGregor in their first meeting to retain the UFC lightweight championship.
McGregor’s tweets have since been deleted, but screenshots of the comments can be seen here (h/t adjarasport.tv):

After a brief, but inconclusive exchange between the two opened up the conversation, McGregor tweeted “Robert Earl Britton is The Man,” a reference to an alias that Abdelaziz allegedly used in the past. Abdelaziz responded with an image from Nurmagomedov’s win over McGregor.

Abdelaziz also reminded McGregor that he has several lightweight and welterweight stars under his management to handle McGregor, including UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, recent lightweight title challenger Justin Gaethje, No. 1 welterweight contender Gilbert Burns, and 2020 breakout fighter Khamzat Chimaev.

McGregor then responded with “Decision time for the (duck emoji),” implying that Nurmagomedov is avoiding a rematch with him. Nurmagomedov announced his retirement at UFC 254 in October after successfully defending his UFC title for a third consecutive time with a submission of Gaethje and improving his pro record to 29-0. He has maintained in interviews that he does not plan to compete again, though UFC President Dana White is yet to officially close the door on Nurmagomedov’s time with the promotion.
Abdelaziz went on to take more personal shots at McGregor, suggesting that “The Notorious” must be either “drunk or high”:

Chimaev also chimed in, volunteering to take on McGregor with a tweet that read, “Don’t worry big brother I’m going to smash this chicken for you.”

McGregor has more pressing matters to attend to next month when he rematches Dustin Poirier in the lightweight main event of UFC 257 on Jan. 23 in Abu Dhabi.
