The welterweight veteran also said his cousin’s business was vandalized and robbed.

There have been massive protests across the United States and throughout the world following the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who has since been fired and charged with third-degree murder.

Some of the more chaotic scenes in the US have involved violent clashes between law enforcement and protesters, law enforcement and media, as well as vandalism and looting of many small and large businesses.

UFC welterweight and Chicago native Belal Muhammad voiced his displeasure over the destruction and looting of businesses run by his friends and family. He shared photos of the damage to his cousin’s business as well as his father’s store.

Belal later thanked “everyone for the offers of help and support” and indicated that his family is fine and healthy.

On the MMA front, we have seen UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya speak at a Black Lives Matter protest in New Zealand, former light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell try to ease tensions at a protest in Santa Monica, California, and current light heavyweight champ Jon Jones take away spray cans from prospective vandals in his home city of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Muhammad is scheduled to face Lyman Good at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Volkov on June 20th. The matchup was originally set for UFC 249 on April 18th, but not only was the event postponed anyway, Good had to withdraw after testing positive for coronavirus.
