Austin Hubbard vs. Joe Solecki added to June 20 UFC event
The UFC’s June slate of events has added a fight between a pair of lightweights looking to take a big step forward in 2020.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that Austin Hubbard will take on Joe Solecki on June 20. The event is expected to take place at the UFC APEX, pending approval from the Nevada Athletic Commission.
MMA Junkie was first to report the booking.
Hubbard, a former LFA lightweight champion, is looking to even up his record in the UFC. “Thud” has lost two of his first three octagon appearances with his lone win coming via unanimous decision over Kyle Prepolec this past September. In his most recent appearance, the Elevation Fight Team product was defeated via decision by Mark O. Madsen at UFC 248.
In addition, Hubbard revealed on Instagram that he signed a new four-fight deal with the promotion.
Solecki, 26, had a successful promotional debut at December’s UFC Washington, D.C. event when he defeated Matt Wiman in a one-sided decision. The Dana White’s Contender Series standout earned a UFC contract with a first-round submission win over Jesse Wallace this past July.
The UFC’s event on June 20 will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov.
