McGregor was Forbes’ No. 16 highest paid athlete of 2020

Conor McGregor, despite his inactivity, is still one of the highest paid fighters in the world.

Despite his inactivity over the last year, UFC star Conor McGregor is still one of the highest-paid athletes in the world, coming in at No. 16 on Forbes’ list of highest-paid athletes for 2020.

McGregor, the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion, has fought just once in the past 12 months, but the Irishman is reported to have earned a whopping $32 million for his 40-second TKO of Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC 246. ‘The Notorious’ added a further $16 million to his bank account in endorsements, per Forbes, bringing his yearly total to $48 million.

McGregor, who earns $5 million per year in Reebok sponsorship money, landed at No. 4 in 2018 following his mega-money boxing match with Floyd Mayweather Jr. The SBG Ireland standout is reported to have earned $99 million for the bout.

This year, McGregor is just one of four combat sports stars to make the top 30. Other fighters on the list include Tyson Fury (No. 11, $57 million), Anthony Joshua (No. 19, $47 million), Deontay Wilder (No. 20, $46.5 million), and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (No. 30, $37 million), per MMA Fighting.

Tennis star Roger Federer came in at No. 1 with a reported $106.3 million salary.
