Report: Smith’s home intruder was a high school wrestling star

The intruder that broke into Anthony Smith’s home was apparently a standout high school wrestler in Nebraska.

UFC light heavyweight title contender Anthony Smith recently revealed that the one of toughest fights of his life didn’t happen inside the Octagon. It actually took place in his home in Omaha, Nebraska when an intruder broke in last weekend.

“No normal human is able to fight like that. I’m by no means the baddest dude on the planet. But he’s a regular Joe and I had a hard time dealing with him. And he took everything that I gave him — every punch, every knee, every elbow. He took every single one of them and kept fighting me,” Smith said of the perpetrator, who was later identified as Luke Haberman.

Haberman apparently has a combat sports background himself, which can be attributed to his toughness. The 21-year-old was reportedly a high school wrestling standout who competed for Bishop Neumann High School.

A video of Haberman unsuccessfully breaking into one of the houses was also released by KMTV Omaha.

A bloodied up Haberman was eventually arrested and charged with first-degree criminal trespass. County Sheriffs believe he was likely under the influence of some intoxicating substance.
