Pitbull criticises UFC’s ‘f-ck the fighter’ coronavirus approach

Bellator featherweight and lightweight champion Patricio Freire doesn’t think the UFC should be pushing forward with events during the coronavirus pandemic.

All upcoming Bellator events have been cancelled, but the promotion is hopeful of returning to host fights in June or July. Meanwhile, the UFC is still hopeful of putting on cards with a report this week stating UFC 249 will be taking place on May 9th in Florida.

Talking recently to MMA Fighting, Pitbull said he feels the UFC’s approach in trying to host events during the pandemic is ‘inhuman.’

“My impression is that fighters come last, right? Fulfilling contracts come first, making money, and f—k it,” he said. “Bring entertainment for those at home, and f—k the fighter if he’s going to catch the virus or die. It seems inhuman.”

Pitbull (30-4) was scheduled to defend his featherweight title last month at Bellator 241 against Pedro Carvalho, but the event was cancelled on the day of the fight due to the worsening of Covid-19. The Brazilian continued by saying Bellator’s approach of waiting for the government to
