How do you think Chuck Liddell in his prime would have faired against Jon Jones?

Chuck Liddell thinks he would have caused Jon Jones problems in the octagon if he was to face ‘Bones’ whilst in his prime.

Liddell (21-9) dominated the UFC’s 205-pound division long over a decade ago, beating some of the best names in MMA. “The Iceman” came out of retirement in November 2018 for a one-off fight against Tito Ortiz to fulfil their trilogy, but Liddell lost by first-round KO. He is now 0-4 in his last four fights.

Before coming out of his retirement Liddell showed an interest in fighting Jones, in which prompted a stern response from the current light heavyweight champion. Liddell discussed a fight with Jon Jones as part of a Q&A on Twitter.

“I think I would have matched up well with him, style wise,” Liddell tweeted. “I would have given him trouble because it would have been very hard to take me down, and I would have been landing some insane power punches during my prime. I also have a longer reach than my stats detail.”

Jones (25-1, 1NC) is widely considered the greatest name to ever grace the sport. ‘Bones’ has defended his light heavyweight title three times since winning it back in 2018, however two of those wins have come by controversial split decision. The 32-year-old has recently made headlines for a DWI and misuse of firearm charge in which he accepted a plea deal.
