Brazilian MMA prospect Glyan Alves was shot and killed Tuesday night in Juiz Fora, Brazil, his father and coach Santos Rocha confirmed to MMA Fighting.

A former Shooto Brazil and JF Fight titleholder, Alves was shot three times in his waist and leg inside the garage of his home.

According to his father, the bantamweight talent was rushed to the hospital and had multiple heart attacks before doctors confirmed his death.

It’s still unclear who killed the MMA fighter, Rocha said.

Alves’ second daughter was born today in Juiz de Fora, Rocha told MMA Fighting.

Alves (13-5), who made it to MMA Fighting’s “Brazilian prospects to watch” list in 2019 after capturing a pair of belts in his native country, lost back-to-back fights last year against future CFFC champion Herbeth Sousa and Elvis Silva.
