Cage Warriors 113 weigh-in results: Extra precautions taken for COVID-19 concerns

Darren Stewart | Thomas Lakes, MMA Fighting

All 22 fighters scheduled for Friday’s Cage Warriors 113 card successfully made weight under some unique circumstances.

With concerns over the spread of the COVID-19 virus shutting down events around the world, Cage Warriors is proceeding with its scheduled March 20 card in Manchester, England, and the promotion took extra precautions when weighing in its fighters on Thursday.

Per a release, the weigh-ins were conducted in three separate portions with only one team member being allowed to join a fighter during that fighter’s weigh-in time slot. The intention was to minimize contact.

The promotion also stated that “All athletes were checked for symptoms of COVID-19 by an on-site medic at the weigh-ins.” Also, staff and crew members are expected to be checked for COVID-19 symptoms when entering the arena on Friday and fighters will be tested a second time before competing.

It should be noted that carriers of the coronavirus can be asymptomatic even after days of being exposed to the virus, and that a lack of symptoms does not mean the afflicted is not contagious.

Cage Warriors 113 will be headlined by a middleweight bout between Darren Stewart and Bartosz Fabinski that was originally scheduled for UFC London on Saturday before that event was indefinitely postponed.
