Arnold Allen rules out quick turnaround for UFC London due to injured hand

Arnold Allen has cultivated the largest win streak in the UFC’s featherweight division with his recent win at UFC Raleigh, but a hand injury has likely ruled the Suffolk native out of a home showcase at UFC London.

Allen has put together a seven-fight win streak since his signing in 2015. Although many felt as though his booking on January’s Raleigh card would still give him a slim chance at a quick turnaround for the March 20 show in the English capital, an injury sustained to his right hand during his competitive bout with divisional stalwart Nik Lentz has ruled him out of the organization’s annual European marquee event.

“I can pretty much say that it’s not happening,” Allen told MMA Fighting’s Eurobash podcast.

“It’s going to be at least a month before I can get back to throwing it around again. It’s not broken or anything, but it’s definitely a pretty bad sprain. I’m getting X-rayed tomorrow so hopefully it’s all good. But, yeah, it’s probably going to be another four weeks, I reckon.”

Allen confirmed that the damage was inflicted to his right hand during the featherweight bout.

“It was my right hand - it was just from the jabs,” explained. “It was good, I found my range early. The left hand was a bit more tricky, it wasn’t landing so well because he kept switching stances from orthodox so it was a bit tougher, but the jab was firing off nice.”

“At the end of the second round I noticed [the injury], and in the third round I felt it,” Allen added.
